HOW WE BEGAN
In 1989, six people began gathering in a home in the suburb of Garran, ACT. This was the start of Vision Christian Fellowship. Not long after, Vision CF moved into a public building for worship services. It was strongly felt that the call on those meeting was not to be a house church.
THE GROWING YEARS
The first few years of Vision CF saw slow and minimal growth with congregation remaining around twenty. Throughout the nineties, God brought new people into the Fellowship and our church grew in number and maturity.
WHERE WE HAVE COME FROM
Where we have come from is varied. Some of us have backgrounds in historical churches, others in Pentecostal assemblies. Still others have been led to Christ in recent years, while some are from local house church groups.
WHAT DREW US TOGETHER
We believe that God has, and continues to, draw people from all walks of life to be part of our Fellowship. Most of us have come to this Fellowship disillusioned, hurt and in need of a little love and care. As we have gathered, God has blessed and healed us. Watching this happen has given us a deeper understanding and appreciation of the original vision given to some of the founding members.
EZEKIEL 17:22 – 24
The picture of what our church is meant to be can be found in Ezekiel 17:22-24. Ezekiel shows a tree being formed and birds from all walks of life coming to find shelter and rest in its branches. Like with any tree, some birds build nests, while others only stay for a rest. We have found that some people come for a season of healing and rest, others stay and take up residence.
The call God has placed upon Vision CF through the Ezekiel scripture, is to be a place where healing and refuge can be found - a Safe Place. Consequently, we function as a hospital, a family and an army all at the same time. We believe Vision CF is a church where God's acceptance, healing and provision are known. People who nest here come to appreciate this is the call upon us and identify with it.
